Zack Fair

Zack assists Sephiroth in the Nibel reactor investigation. When Sephiroth turns on the town and goes after Jenova, Zack does everything to stop him. He is severely wounded in the battle, and captured by Shinra for experimentation. Zack has now managed to escape with his friend Cloud, and they are heading for Midgar, while trying to elude Shinra's soldiers, and the Turks.

Sephiroth

Sephiroth leads an investigation in the disturbances at the Nibelheim reactor. After learning the truth about his origins, Sephiroth goes insane, and destroys the entire town. He then flees to the reactor to claim his "mother" Jenova. Here he is confronted by Tifa, Zack, and finally Cloud. He then jumps into the Lifestream with Jenova's head.

Cloud Strife

When Cloud pursues Zack and Tifa to the reactor, he finds them in pretty bad shape. He then confronts, and mortally wounds Sephiroth. Even after Sephiroth brings him to the brink of death, Cloud's own rae brings Sephiroth's terror to an end. He is severely wounded in the battle, and captured by Shinra for experimentation. Cloud and Zack somehow escape Shinra, and they are heading for Midgar, while trying to elude Shinra's soldiers, and the Turks.

Tifa Lockheart

Tifa initially served as the guide to the Nibelheim Reactor for Sephiroth and Zack. When she discovers the city in flames, her mentor Zangan tells her her father is at the reactor. She races to the reactor, only to find her father dying at the hands of Sephiroth. When Tifa confronts Sephiroth, she is critically wounded. It is here that her rage and hate for Shinra was began.

Tseng

At the behest of Hojo's orders, it was up to the Turks to rebuild Nibelheim. He wanted it to look as if nothing had happened there that fateful night. Now that Zack and Cloud have escaped, Tseng finds himself wondering why they had done these guys the way they did. He tries to stop the others from killing them, but is too late in getting there.

Zangan

Zangan tries to help the wounded after Sephiroth sets the town ablaze. When Tifa runs after Sephiroth, Zangan fears the worst. He follows her to the reactor, to find her severely wounded. He manages to get her out, before Hojo comes and takes the remaining people to the mansion.

Hojo

Hojo shows up to the reactor, after hearing about Sephiroth's death. He gathers up Zack and Cloud, for experimenting. He will try to create another Sephiroth using them as the test subjects. He has the remains of Jenova moved to Shinra HQ, to begin his theory on "the Jenova Reunion". He orders the Turks to restore the town, to make it look as if nothing had ever happened.

Rude and Elana

Rude and Elena are the first of the Turks to actually find Cloud and Zack, after they have stolen a bike to escape. The give pursuit all the way to the Mythril Mines, where they lose them.

The Turks

The turks are seen in full, minus Rude, Elana, and Cissnei, when Tseng heads out to capture Cloud and Zack. The only Turk other than Tseng in this group from the original game is Reno (right). The others are featured in Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII. From left to right: Shotgun, Martial Arts, Twin Guns, Martial Arts, Gun, and Rod.
