Final Fantasy Tactics
Job Class System

Final Fantasy Tactics brought back the Job system featured in III and V. This time though, they took it, and completely remade the entire system. Instead of finding a crystal, and getting a set of the jobs, you almost have to earn them.
What this means is, in order to get new jobs, you have to meet certain requirements of other jobs first. For instance, in order to get the job for a Black Mage, you need to get the Chemist job up to Level 2. If you want to be a Summoner, you need the Level 2 or higher for the Chemist, then you need the Level 3 for a Black Mage to become a Time Mage. And finally you need to level the Time Mage up to Level 3, in order to become a Summoner.
This might sound very complicated, but it is in fact quite easy. Basically to get certain Jobs, you need to have other jobs at a certain level.
The other thing to laern about is the JP (Job Point) aquisition. This happens after a character performs an action. Say Ramza casts a spell successfully. To find out the JP gotten, use this equation:

8 + ([Current Job Level x2]+[Character's current level÷4]) = JP obtained.

To start, you must do what is in the ( ) first. Let's begin with the Job Level. If the JL of the character is say 6, then multiply that by 2. 6 x 2 = 12. Now we need to determine the level of the character. Say the character's level is 28. 28 ÷ 4 = 7. Now add 12 + 7 = 19. Now we take this total, and do what is outside of the ( ). 19 + 8 = 27. This character will get 27 JP.
The other new function is the JP distribution. This is a great tool, that should have been introduced a long time ago. If say you have a White Mage on the field, and they get 40JP. 10JP of the 40 is then given to the White Mage class of every other unit member on the field. Even if they cannot or are not using the White Mage Job. Basically you are getting free JP for various jobs. If you want to focus on a certain job, and advance it rather quickly, there is a way to do that as well.
1 - All unit members need to know the Squire's "Focus" ability. This ability is a garonteed JP earner.
2 - Have every unit member change into the desired job. We'll go with the Squire.
3 - Kill off all but one enemy in the field, and hit that one with Toad, Stop, or Slow.
5 - Now spread your unit out across the field, and continue using Focus. Everytime JP is earned by a player, 25% will go to the other team. Being that it is a Squire's ability, it will go to that class, and you will master it in no time. This can be done with any class there is. If all members are Summoners, you will inevitably get more JP for that class. This though can be very risky to do with the weaker magick user classes. Do it at your own risk.

In this section, you will find all the classes of Final Fantasy Tactics. Though the tables are easy to read, they might not be easy to understand. here is what it looks like, and what everything means:

In the sections for the stats, you will notice letters, rather than numbers. This is because it is a grade, rather than a set number. For instance, a White Mage has a MP of A+. This is a really good score to have. On the other hand her HP is a C+. This grading is very much like your report cards in school. The worst grade for one of these sections is a D-. The best grade you can get is an S. Look over these stats, when determining what jobs you want to try for. They will help get the more powerful jobs out there in the open for you.
Below is a picture showing the job gaining flow. You will always begin with Squire and Chemist. If you look for more of the physical attacker, the Squire has the side to go with. If your preference is magick, then go with the Chemist. I do hope this sheds a bit more light on the Job system for this game. If there are any questions, please contact me, and I will help you out to the best of my ability.
