Dissidia Final fantasy Arcade Mode
Exclusive to the American and European release of Dissidia, they have added an Arcade Mode to the game. The Arcade Mode is a gameplay mode that converts the game into a arcade fighting style of game, similar to Soul Caliber. This mode is made strictly for the people who just love to go into fighting, no story needed or done. The arcade Mode removes every aspect of the RPG points of the game, and all of the player/opponents are stripped down to an even level for the fights. There is no leveling up in Arcade Mode, and the only thing you can change on your character is their costume. All 20 main characters in the game are available to fight with from the very beginning. There is no need to unlock them in the PP Catalog. Shantotto and Gabranth must still be unlocked before they can be used in Arcade Mode.
The Arcade Mode consists of three modes: Normal, Hard, and Time Attack. Completing any one of these modes will give the player PP and special items for the shops and making weapons, armor, and stuff. Since there is no leveling up in Arcade Mode, you will not earn AP, EXP, or Gil. That said, any accomplishments gained will still count.
There is no penalty for losing a battle in Normal Mode or Hard Mode. If you lose a battle in Time Attack Mode you will be forced to continue at the time you lost the battle, if you wish to retry. This can downgrade the item rewards received at the end of the battles. In any of the modes, you can retry as many times as you wish to.
Normal Mode
is available from the beginning. In Normal Mode sets you against five opponents, at level 10. (three heroes and two villains). If you make it through the battles without dying, you are rewarded with 300 PP and a Chocobo Cologne. This is certainly no hard task for a good leveled character.
Hard Mode
Hard Mode is purchased in the PP Catalog, and is available at the very beginning of the game. In hard Mode, you are pitted against 8 opponents with a level of 50. (Starts with a hero, and alternates between heroes and villains). If you survive all 8 battles, you are rewarded with 400 PP as well as a Wind Stone, Water Stone, and Lifestone.
Time Attack Mode
You need to also unlock Time Attack in the PP Catalog, but you can only do so if you complete Shade Impulse Chapter 4. In this difficult battle, you are pitted against 10 level 100 characters, and adds a time clock to the fight. You are offered a choice of a randomly selected set of enemies to fight. Each opponent (Chaos being the acception) has a specific setup, affecting the way the opponents act in battle. Each character has a predetermined summonstone, and you can only use your summonstone three times durring the course of the battles.
500 PP is rewarded regardless of how fast the player finishes the Time Attack. The item rewards will vary depending on how fast you finish.
If you complete the set in 15 minutes or less, you will be rewarded with 10 Wind Stones, Water Stones, Lifestones, and Megalixirs.
If you finish between 15 and 20 minutes, you will get 5 Chocobo Colognes, Elixirs, Hi-Elixirs, and Megalixirs.
If you pass 20 minutes, you will be rewarded with 10 Transmogridust.
