Final Fantasy VI Hidden Characters
Finding Gogo
Gogo can be found in the WOR, anytime after you get the airship. Fly to the northeastern most island on the map. It should
be in the shape of a triangle. Here you will run into an enemy called a Zone Eater.
This enemy will begin to swallow your party one by one. Don't panic...you want him to do that. Once you have been eaten, your party will find themselves in a strange cave. The exit is up the stairs from where you land.
The first thing you want to do is enter the room to the south. Here you should see a series of bridges, with people walking across them. The object is to get across the bridges without hitting the guys. You can jump between the bridges, by pressing the action button. Here you will also find the Fake Mustache. This gives Relm the ability to turn her Sketch, into Control. Once on the other side, head into the next room.
After going through the room with a save point, (and I suggest you save) you will come into a room where the ceiling rises and falls. If you get crushed under the ceiling, it is game over. If you watch closely, you will see holes where you will be safe when the roof drops. You must be quick and accurate, to make it through this area, and collect the chests in the room.
The next room is not really a puzzle at all. Simply jump from chest to chest, until you get to the door at the top. Enter through here, and you will find Gogo waiting for you. After a small speech, he will join you for the remainder of the game. |
Finding Umaro
When you have a pretty good sized party of 4, that knows quite a bit of fire magic, perhaps it is time to go after Mog. He of course wandered back to his home in Narshe. You will find him where he was in the very beginning of the game. When you talk to him he will join you. Now hit the action button right where he was standing, and you will find his personal relic the Molulu's Charm. This prevents all random encounters while Mog is in your party wearing it. Nice huh?
Once you get Mog, he will tell you about Umaro. Umaro will only join you with Mog in your party. That said, you can do everything, including defeating Umaro before you get Mog It is easier to get Mog first though.
First you need to go to the cliff where Terra freaked out in the World of Balance. Be careful that you do not accidentally
initiate combat with the Ice Dragon. This is one of the 8 :Legendary Dragons, and at lower levels, he can be quite a handful to deal with.
|
Do not let his size trick you. Ice Dragon has all kinds of nastly little ice based attacks in his inventory to put you in some hurt. He can easily freeze your characters, and do some massive damage with Absolute Zero, and Blizzara. Hit him fast and hard with Fira, and use Fire to thaw frozen comrades out of their prisons of ice. Depending on levels, this could be a rough fight. But keep pummeling him with Fira, and all should be fine. If you ahve already gotten Valigarmanda, a few Firaga spells will seal his fate in no time. |
After that fight, hit the save point and continue onwards. When you reach the cliff side, you will run into Valigarmanda
from when Terra went berserk. You need to defeat him, in order to gain access to Umaro's cave.
|
This Esper is far more dangerous than the dragon you just faced, however he shares the same weakness to fire. Hit him with Fira. If you have Sabin in the party, his Rising Phoenix does some good damage as well. Edgar would be good with either Fira or his Drill. Hang through, and eventually Valigarmanda will fall. When he does, he will lend you his power. With him you can learn the 3rd tier elemental spells! |
Once you defeat him you get access to the cave. Once inside, you simply need to navigate the cave. There are hidden holes in the floors. Some of them you need to fall through, and others you do not. Also there are two chests in here, that have fights with Tonberry, and Tonberries. They are extremely difficult to beat, so as before, if you are not leveled up...you are toast. There are several spots in the floor, that will drop you down to the second level. (Refer to the map above) This is where you are wanting to go. If you are still wanting to explore the first floor, simply head up the stairs, and back through the center door. You can easily remember where all the holes are, and avoid them in no time.
Once you find Umaro's room, inspect the carving, and take the Midgarsormr Esper.. This will prompt a fight with Yeti. |
|
And the big guy himself...finally. Though he might seem brutish and formitable, he really is not hard. If you defeated the bosses on your way here, Umaro is nothing you cannot handle. Once again there is a weakness to fire, so hit him with Fire spells and attacks. Close to the end of the fight, he will use a Green Cherry to boost all of his stats, but it is not too impressive. Keep on pounding, and the battle will be over before you know it. |
After the fight, Mog will order Umaro to join your group. You now
have a uncontrollable powerhouse in your party.
